Hawthorn and berries antique print tea towel. Liriodendron Tulipifera otherwise known as the American Tulip Tree is the tallest Eastern American hardwood. This design was published in the “American Medical Botany" in 3 volumes between 1817 and 1820. Jacob Bigelow was born in Sudbury, Massachusetts on February 27, 1787. He graduated from Harvard in 1806. Bigelow’s American Medical Botany was a groundbreaking work of literature focusing on the history of the North American medicinal plant. It was also the first American book with printed colour plates, produced using a method invented by Bigelow himself.
